Popcat (POPCAT) is a Solana meme coin based on viral internet phenomenon and clicking game featuring cat named "Oatmeal" with mouth opening and closing making "pop" sound. The original October 2020 image became global sensation spawning Popcat.click competitive game where countries compete for highest click counts, generating billions of clicks worldwide. POPCAT captures participatory internet culture - simple, addictive, wholesome fun that united global communities in friendly competition, representing cat memes' universal appeal across cultures.

The Popcat meme started in 2020 with a short clip of a cat named Oatmeal appearing to say "pop." The image pair (mouth closed, mouth open) turned into a reaction format within weeks. Popcat.click, the companion browser game, layered on a country leaderboard where every click contributed to your nation's total. Taiwan, Thailand, and Estonia dominated. The game racked up billions of clicks through 2020 and 2021.

POPCAT the token launched as an SPL token on Solana in December 2023, roughly three years after the meme peaked. Fair launch: no presale, no team cliff, fixed supply. For most of early 2024 it traded as a mid-cap Solana memecoin with a strong Asian community.
