Bitunix review: fees, memecoins and safety
Last reviewed September 9, 2026
Our verdict
Bitunix has the widest memecoin perpetual list of the offshore venues we track — over 700 contracts, including DOGE, 1000PEPE, 1000BONK, 1000SHIB, WIF, POPCAT, FARTCOIN, SPX and PUMP — at 0.02% maker / 0.06% taker. Spot exists (around 550 open pairs) but at 0.08%/0.10% it is not a reason to be here. Small operator, big leverage: size accordingly.
- Best for
- Traders who want a specific memecoin perpetual that larger exchanges have not listed, and who are comfortable with an offshore venue incorporated in Saint Vincent.
- Not for
- US and Canadian residents, long-term holders, and anyone who would be uncomfortable with a 2021-founded exchange holding their balance.

Overview
Bitunix is a derivatives exchange that began trading in 2022 under Bitunix Fintech LLC, incorporated in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Its pitch to memecoin traders is coverage: its futures API lists over 700 contracts, which is more memecoin perpetuals than most tier-one exchanges carry, and the pairs arrive quickly after a coin gets attention.
Costs are structured the way derivatives venues usually structure them. Futures at VIP 0 cost 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker; spot at VIP 0 costs 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker. Spot is therefore worse than MEXC on both sides, so the honest use case is the perpetual book. Bitunix also offers to match a VIP tier you already hold elsewhere if you email proof of 30-day volume, which is unusual and worth doing before you trade size.
The risk side is straightforward: this is a young offshore exchange with high leverage and no meaningful regulatory backstop. Sign-up needs only an email, but Bitunix tightened verification during 2026: identity checks now gate withdrawals, and third-party trackers describe a US MSB registration used for AML purposes rather than any licence to serve US retail traders. Nothing here is deposit-protected, and the leverage on offer — up to 125x on a memecoin contract — is a liquidation engine rather than a feature.
Memecoin coverage
Perpetuals are the reason to look: DOGEUSDT, 1000PEPEUSDT, 1000BONKUSDT, 1000SHIBUSDT, WIFUSDT, POPCATUSDT, FARTCOINUSDT, TRUMPUSDT, SPXUSDT, PUMPUSDT and 1000FLOKIUSDT are all live, several of them also quoted in USDC.
The 1000-prefixed contracts trade a thousand tokens as one unit, which is how exchanges keep tick sizes usable on sub-cent coins. Your position size is in contracts, not in tokens — read the contract specification before sizing.
Spot covers roughly 550 open pairs including SHIB, DOGE, PEPE, BONK, PUMP, WIF, POPCAT, FLOKI, FARTCOIN and SPX, so you can take delivery and withdraw — but the fees make it a convenience rather than a cheap entry.
New launches are still on-chain only. Bitunix lists fast for a CEX, not fast in launchpad terms.

What it costs
- Futures VIP 0: 0.02% maker, 0.06% taker. The taker rate is three times the maker rate, so resting orders matter more here than on spot.
- Spot VIP 0: 0.08% maker, 0.10% taker — higher than MEXC on both sides.
- VIP tiers move on 30-day volume or account balance; VIP 1 starts at 1,000,000 USDT of 30-day futures volume or a 300 USDT balance, so the first step down in fees is reachable for ordinary accounts.
- Bitunix publishes a VIP-matching process: email your UID and a screenshot of 30-day volume from another exchange to get the equivalent tier.
- Funding payments on perpetuals are separate from trading fees and are usually the larger cost on a memecoin contract held for days.
Pros
- The broadest memecoin perpetual coverage of the venues we track, with over 700 contracts live.
- Competitive futures fees at 0.02% maker / 0.06% taker without needing an exchange token.
- VIP tier matching from other exchanges, which is rare and directly reduces cost.
- Both USDT and USDC quotes on several memecoin perps.
- Sign-up works without documents, so you can look at the platform before verifying.
Cons
- Young exchange with a short track record and an offshore incorporation.
- Spot fees are uncompetitive; there is no reason to buy and hold here.
- Leverage up to 125x on memecoin contracts invites account-ending losses.
- US, Canadian, Singaporean, Hong Kong, Chinese and UAE residents are restricted, among others.
- No deposit protection, and verification requirements at withdrawal time can surprise accounts opened without KYC.
How to buy on Bitunix
- 1
Confirm your jurisdiction is not restricted
Bitunix restricts the US and its territories, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China, the UAE and around 17 other jurisdictions. Trading from a restricted market risks the account and the balance.
- 2
Register and enable 2FA before depositing
Sign up with an email address and turn on authenticator-app two-factor authentication first. Check the verification requirements for withdrawals now rather than discovering them later.
- 3
Ask for VIP matching if you trade elsewhere
Email your UID with a screenshot of 30-day volume from another exchange to get the matching VIP tier, which lowers both spot and futures fees immediately.
- 4
Deposit USDT on the cheapest network
Transfer stablecoins in rather than using a card route. Start with an amount you are willing to lose entirely while you test deposits, trading and — crucially — a withdrawal.
- 5
Read the contract spec before opening a memecoin perp
A 1000PEPE contract is a thousand tokens, and the leverage cap differs per pair (125x on 1000SHIB, 20x on 1000FLOKI). Set leverage deliberately rather than accepting the default.
- 6
Test a withdrawal early
Withdraw a small amount before you scale up. On a young venue the withdrawal path — not the trading engine — is what you are really underwriting.

Safety and risks
- This is an offshore, custodial venue founded in 2021. Keep only trading capital here and hold long-term positions in your own wallet.
- High leverage on memecoin perps is the single fastest way to lose an account. A 75x position is liquidated by a 1.3% adverse move before fees.
- 1000-prefixed contracts multiply your exposure by a thousand tokens per contract; misreading that is a common sizing error.
- Enable authenticator-app 2FA and a withdrawal allow-list where available, and never share your UID with anyone offering "VIP upgrades" outside the official support channel.
- Verify withdrawal and KYC requirements before depositing size — Bitunix tightened verification during 2026, and an unverified account can find itself able to deposit but not withdraw.
Nothing here is financial advice. Memecoins are high-risk and can go to zero; only risk what you can afford to lose.
Alternatives to Bitunix
- MEXC — Better for spot at 0% maker / 0.05% taker, with a longer operating history and both spot and perp markets.
- WEEX — A comparable offshore derivatives venue that publishes a 1,000 BTC protection fund.
- Hyperliquid — Memecoin perpetuals on an on-chain order book, with the collateral in a wallet you control.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bitunix available in the US?
No. The United States and its territories are restricted, as are Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China, the UAE and around 17 other jurisdictions. A US MSB registration used for AML purposes is not a licence to serve US retail traders.
What does Bitunix charge?
At VIP 0, futures cost 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker, and spot costs 0.08% maker and 0.10% taker. VIP tiers reduce both, and Bitunix will match a tier you already hold on another exchange if you send proof of 30-day volume.
What does the 1000 in 1000PEPEUSDT mean?
One contract represents 1,000 PEPE. Exchanges use the multiplier so sub-cent coins have a workable tick size. It also means your notional exposure is a thousand times the token price per contract — check the specification before sizing.
Do I need KYC to trade on Bitunix?
You can register and look around without verification, but Bitunix tightened its rules during 2026 and identity checks now gate withdrawals, with limits set by your registered country rather than a published table. Complete verification before you deposit an amount you need to be able to withdraw.
Is Bitunix safe?
It is a young offshore exchange with high leverage and no deposit protection. Nothing about it is licensed in a way that protects retail balances. Use it as a trading venue with capital you can afford to lose, and self-custody anything you intend to hold.
